This assignment was all about grids, layout & flow. Firstly we were asked to find examples of a magazine not using the grid system, then of an example from anywhere where the grid system is employed. We were also required to take an existing brochure and take apart the elements and rearrange the design flow.

If I could be anything I wanted, it would be a singer-songwriter. Second choice would be a music video director. Here is the kind of video I dream of making.

This assignment was all about typography. First, we had to match typeface to shoes according to the personality of the shoes & type; then we had to provide examples of different fonts in different categories of typeface; and finally reproduce information about typeface using the font it describes. The images, of course, are in the wrong order just to keep my multitudes of readers on their toes!

In this assignment we had to design a logo for a fruit shop called - what else? - Fruit Shop. The brief: A new upmarket fruit shop called Fruitshop requires an identity. They are after a modern
contemporary design that uses colour as the main design element. They don‟t want a logo that uses
typical fruit shapes. Fruitshop plans to stock a wide range of in season fruit sourced from around the
world.
This is what I came up with. Please don't steal my ideas, as exquisite as they are...

This assignment introduced me to the concept of positive and negative space, as well as whitespace. Attached are my own amateur attempts at utilising negative space, as well as examples of whitespace in existing use (print advertising; street advertising; website; own choice - for me, a CD cover).
