Oh this is sad news. It was only while browsing now for imagery from designers who have inspired me that I discovered that the first designer I was truly aware of, Eiko Ishioka, passed away earlier this year. When I was a teenager there was not a film that seduced me more than 'Bram Stoker's Dracula', directed by the great Francis Ford Coppola. It was Ms Ishioka's Academy Award-winning costumes which floored me most of all (I gave her a standing ovation in my loungeroom at the age of 15!). She also collaborated with one of my favourite director's Tarsem Singh on his first (and so far only) four films: The Cell; The Fall; Immortals; and the upcoming Mirror Mirror. And she also directed one of my all-time favourite music videos: Bjork's 'Cocoon'. I adore her work.
